Welcome to The Adventure Beckons
My name is Rebecca, and I’m a Maryland native now living in Vancouver, British Columbia. In between those two places I spent 4 years in snowy upstate New York followed by nearly 10 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, adventuring all over California.
I’ve always loved to write about travel and places different from where I live. I started my first blog when I lived in Israel at 18, continued it while studying abroad in India, and maintained a weekly opinion column at my college newspaper that focused on global events.
When I moved to California after college my love of outdoor adventure travel really took shape. Exploring the gorgeous national parks and mountains of the American West helped connect me to a place that was new to me and far from where I had grown up. The confidence I gained by honing outdoor skills like hiking, backpacking and climbing unlocked a new part of myself that loved a challenge.
My travel style is heavily influenced by my yearning to get out of my comfort zone on a regular basis and explore amazing natural landscapes. Something amazing I’ve found by traveling in this style to over 40 countries is that you are more likely to stumble upon hidden gems, get away from the crowds, and find yourself among locals. I hope that kind of journey resonates with you!
