  • From elsewhere: $1,200+ depending on origin

For us, flights from North America added about $2,000 for two people.

Other Costs to Keep in Mind

How to Save Money on a Morocco Trip

Our 12-day Morocco trip cost about $7,000 for two, but you could do it for far less with different choices.

Sahara Tour: Private vs Group

  • Private Tour: $600–$800 per person (5 days). More comfort, flexibility, and cultural depth.
  • Group Tour: $300–$500 per person (3–4 days). Shared transport, standard accommodations, shorter desert stay. Choosing a group tour can save ~$400 per person, but with less time in the Sahara. Here’s a cheaper option.

Accommodation: Riads vs Hostels

  • Riads/Guesthouses: $100–$150 per night (our choice), includes breakfast.
  • Hostels/Budget Hotels: $20–$40 for dorm beds, $50–$70 for basic doubles. Staying in hostels could cut lodging costs in half, saving ~$600–$800 per person.

Food

Morocco is affordable to eat well:

  • Street food/local cafés: $5–$10 per meal
  • Sit-down restaurants: $10–$20 per meal
Since riads include breakfast and many tours include meals, food is one of the easiest places to save.

Budget Traveler Estimate: With hostels, street food, and a group tour, a 12-day Morocco travel budget could be as low as $1,800–$2,200 per person.

Final Thoughts on Morocco Travel Costs

So, how much does a trip to Morocco cost? For a 12-day Morocco itinerary, plan to spend about $5,000 for two people without flights, or $7,000 with flights included. That’s about $3,000–$4,000 per person.

But if you travel on a budget—hostels instead of riads, street food instead of restaurants, group Sahara tours instead of private—you can cut that almost in half. Morocco offers amazing flexibility, with everything from luxury desert camps to shoestring hostels, making it an excellent destination no matter your budget.
