10 Instagram Worthy Spots in Porto

Porto is one of the most scenic cities in Portugal – so where do you begin for great shots? Read on below to hear about some of my favorite!

Porto Cathedral

For only a few euros to enter, you can tour this beautiful cathedral. Inside, there are great mosaics as well as iconic city views to enjoy.

2. Funicular dos Guindais

This funicular is a beautiful backdrop against the steep slipes of the homes in Porto as well as the famous Luis I bridge.

A funicular railway ascends a steep hillside beside stone walls and colorful buildings in an urban area.

3. WOW Porto – World of Wine

Across the river in Gaia, this expansive restaurant / public terrace / wine tasting area has expansive views of the red tiles rooftops of Gaia where Port wine is often bottled and processed!

4. Mirador das Virtudes

This park overlooks the southwest side of the city and is perfect for catching amazing sunsets.

5. Livraria Lello

  1. I hate to admit it but this tourist trap of a library is actually quite beautiful and impressive, and worth a snap.
Grand staircase with ornate ceiling and red steps in a crowded, historic library or bookstore. Shelves lined with books surround the area.

6. Igreja do Carmo

This beautiful church has an amazingly large tile display!

7. Sao Bento Station

Inside the train station (not to be confused with the metro stop of the same name!) there are amazing tiles and a vast, beautiful open train area.

8. The back alleys behind the Porto Cathedral

Save Orpheu Porto on your google maps as a great reference point

Narrow stone alleyway lined with colorful buildings, potted plants, and a small outdoor café at the end.

9. Bolsa palace

Inside there is incredible artwork and the most impressive room, with arabic insciption in gold all over the walls and ceiling!

10. Miradouro da Vitoria

Another great viewpoint over lower Porto and across the river to Gaia.
